It's not just one crazy guy..

“One crazy guy spits at a girl and it becomes headline news for a week,” he told The Jerusalem Post on Thursday, in reference to a Channel 2 program broadcast last weekthat highlighted the abuse carried out by ultra-Orthodox extremists against national-religious girls on their way to their school, which is located on the border of a haredi neighborhood in Beit Shemesh.

Um… BULL. SHIT.

I experienced plenty of these unfortunate instances while living in Givat Shmuel, next to Bnei Brak.  I recall plenty of times boarding the 400 or 402 bus with my pregnant wife, and have some rude shmuck tell me either a) I can’t sit next to her, or b) she has to move to the back of the bus.  Whereafter I would get up and kindly remind the guy that he has no right to dictate shit to me or my wife, and unless he wants a broken nose, he better crawl back into the ghetto he came from.

So that worked coming from a 6”1 Canadian who looks far tougher than he is (looks can be deceiving), but I feel bad for all those other people who feel intimidated and just listen to these assholes.  Yes, obviously it isn’t a large percentage of Haredim who do this or agree with this in any way,  but I’m not buying this “just one incident being blown out of proportion” bs.  It happens all the time and we have all experienced it several times.  Kudos to all those getting involved and trying to find ways to stand up for civil liberties.
